Dolly Parton Imagination Library Launches in Valley Electric Service Territory

The most important factor in guiding a child’s educational success is an early introduction to books.  Being read to from an early age sets the child up for future educational success.  That is why Valley Electric is excited to announce that it is partnering with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.  Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails a new, age-appropriate book to enrolled children, from birth until age five.  This program encourages the relationship between children and parents and instills a love of reading from an early age.

In the board meeting on December 1st, 2021, the Valley Electric Board was presented with the opportunity of partnering with the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.  The board’s decision was unanimous to support the program in the Valley service territory.  The support of this program shows the board’s dedication to the community it serves.

GridLiance also partnered with Valley to offer support for the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in our area, knowing the program is a worthwhile investment.  They have offered to sponsor the children in the area for one year.

To kick off the program, Valley Electric’s staff, including Mark Stallons, CEO, and Steve Morrison, CFO, visited Mt. Charleston Elementary School on December 14, 2021.  To promote the program, Valley Staff read a holiday book and gifted each child with a book to encourage registration.

Children enjoyed listening to the stories that were read to them by Valley Staff.  The students, ranging in age from three to five, were excited to have a book to take home and share with their parents.  The program launch was a success.  Several students signed up for the program due to these efforts.

The goal is to get all children in the Valley Electric Service territories to have access to books at home.  Literacy skills are essential for children’s development and ability to learn and succeed in the future.  Kids that participate in the program and have their parents read to them are better prepared for kindergarten, setting them up for future success.

By recognizing the importance of literacy and by sponsoring the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in the Valley service territory, Valley continues to show its commitment to communities and the children it serves.
