Working Foreman Installer

Valley Electric Association, Inc. (VEA) has an immediate opening for a Working Foreman Installer to work in our headquarters located in Pahrump, Nevada.

Valley Electric Association, Inc., (VEA) is a member-owned electric cooperative based in Pahrump, Nevada, with a certified service area covering more than 6,800 square miles in Nevada and California. VEA presently provides service to over 24,000 services with 2,120 line miles of distribution facilities and 13 substations.  VEA is a participating transmission owner and load serving entity in the California Independent System of Operators Corporation (CAISO).

VEA is the parent company to a host of wholly-owned subsidiaries, including Valley Electric Transmission Association (VETA), Valley Communication Association (VCA), Valley Electric Utility Services (VEUS), and Valley Electric Energy Services (VEES).

VCA (Valley Communications Association), is a wholly-owned subsidiary based in Pahrump, NV, and will offer commercial and residential optical fiber broadband service, with speeds up to 1 gigabit, to VEA members throughout Nevada.

The Working Foreman Installer will work under the general supervision of the Manager of SolPower and perform as the leader of an installation crew. The Forman Installer will have all the required technical expertise for residential and small commercial photovoltaic installations. Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, with 5 years of experience in the installation of residential and small commercial photovoltaic systems, with 2 of those years in a supervisory role, and five years installing photovoltaic systems, or a combination of education, construction experience and supervisory experience that would satisfy the requirements of this position.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, interpret common technical, and electrical documents and write routine reports. Ability to effectively communicate with others and provide clear direction and instruction to the Installation crew even during stressful conditions.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts common in construction. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to properly measure and mark distances.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal concurrently with abstract and concrete variables.

Other Skills and Abilities: Employee must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Employee must have strong organizational skills, be self-motivated and trustworthy. Must have working knowledge of AC and DC electrical theory. Must have the ability to analyze data and reports, and conduct research. Ability to communicate with co-workers, customers and vendors in a professional and courteous manner. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must have working experience using construction equipment, tools, and materials. Must be aware of State and Federal laws (OSHA) related to construction and safety. The employee must have the ability to possess a Medic First Aid Card (CPR inclusive). Must obtain and maintain an OSHA 30 Construction certification and Nevada OSHA PV Installers Certificate.

Must have and maintain a valid Nevada driver’s license and pass a pre-employment drug test as a condition of employment.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
