Valley Electric Association, Inc. (VEA) has an immediate opening for a Warehouseman to work in our headquarters located in Pahrump, Nevada.

Valley Electric Association, Inc., (VEA) is a member-owned electric cooperative based in Pahrump, Nevada, with a certified service area covering more than 6,800 square miles in Nevada and California. VEA presently provides service to over 24,000 services with 2,120 line miles of distribution facilities and 13 substations.  VEA is a participating transmission owner and load serving entity in the California Independent System of Operators Corporation (CAISO).

VEA is the parent company to a host of wholly-owned subsidiaries, including Valley Electric Transmission Association (VETA), Valley Communication Association (VCA), Valley Electric Utility Services (VEUS), and Valley Electric Energy Services (VEES).

VCA (Valley Communications Association), is a wholly-owned subsidiary based in Pahrump, NV, and will offer commercial and residential optical fiber broadband service, with speeds up to 1 gigabit, to VEA members throughout Nevada.

The Warehouseman works under the general supervision of the Procurement Agent who reviews work through daily observation of assigned tasks, records, and customer/vendor feedback. The Warehouseman is responsible to receive, store and issue material in accordance with company policy and perform warehouse work as determined by the Procurement Agent. Education: High School Diploma or equivalency. Additional academic accomplishments in material management, communications, accounting, computer data entry, and electric utility procedures is highly preferred. Must have the ability to attain a forklift trainer certificate for OSHA compliance. Must have the ability to pursue continued training in materials management.

Experience: A minimum of three years’ experience in warehousing is required, preferably with a cooperative, or an equivalent of education, training and experience to satisfy the requirements of this position. Experience must be sufficient to acquire a thorough knowledge of warehousing methods and procedures, and an understanding of the technical issues involved in determining the suitability of materials for use, by VEA. Must have experience with, or have the ability to learn, computer systems related to procurement, inventory, and work orders.

Knowledge: Must have, or quickly acquire, a thorough knowledge of equipment, tools, materials, and services used by electric utilities. Must be proficient in and possess a Medic First Aid Card (CPR inclusive). Must have knowledge of State and Federal laws and REA bulletins related to warehousing.
