Sales Support Technical

Valley Electric Association, Inc. (VEA) has an immediate opening for a Sales Support – Technical to work in our headquarters located in Pahrump, Nevada.

Valley Electric Association, Inc., (VEA) is a member-owned electric cooperative based in Pahrump, Nevada, with a certified service area covering more than 6,800 square miles in Nevada and California. VEA presently provides service to over 24,000 services with 2,120 line miles of distribution facilities and 13 substations.  VEA is a participating transmission owner and load serving entity in the California Independent System of Operators Corporation (CAISO).

VEA is the parent company to a host of wholly-owned subsidiaries, including Valley Electric Transmission Association (VETA), Valley Communication Association (VCA), Valley Electric Utility Services (VEUS), and Valley Electric Energy Services (VEES).

VCA (Valley Communications Association), is a wholly-owned subsidiary based in Pahrump, NV, and will offer commercial and residential optical fiber broadband service, with speeds up to 1 gigabit, to VEA members throughout Nevada.

The Sales Support – Technical will be required to support sales, design and installation activities of SolPower through efficient design of SolPower photovoltaic systems. The Sales Support Technical will also be required to understand the sales and installation cycle of SolPower and be able to communicate effectively with customers to ensure favorable outcomes for SolPower and their customers. Education/Experience: Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Photovoltaic, Electrical construction is desired but not a requirement. Five years of electrical construction and photovoltaic system design and installation or a combination of both education and experience that will satisfy the requirements of this position. Solar Data Acquisition System experience is desired. NABCEP PV Technical Sales certification and basic knowledge of NEC 2017 also desired.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical construction and legal documents. Ability to effectively present information to others.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts common in construction. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal concurrently with abstract and concrete variables.

Other Skills and Abilities: Employee must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Employee must be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products. Employee must have strong organizational skills, be self-motivated and trustworthy. Extensive knowledge of all office procedures, equipment, and administrative functions. Knowledge of data processing, information systems and email etiquette. Ability to communicate with co-workers, customers and vendors in a professional and courteous manner. Must have the ability to problem solve effectively and organize work to meet deadlines. Must have the ability to work independently, perform the activities necessary to complete work assignments described in the position description and be able to handle and prioritize multiple assignments. Work requires attention to detail and the completion of reports, which require a high degree of accuracy and detail. Receives close supervision on new aspects of assignments.

Must have and maintain a valid Nevada driver’s license and pass a pre-employment drug test as a condition of employment.
