Installer – SolPower

SolPower, a subsidiary of Valley Electric Association, Inc. (VEA), has an immediate opening for a Installer to work in our headquarters located in Pahrump, Nevada.

Valley Electric Association, Inc., (VEA) is a member-owned electric cooperative based in Pahrump, Nevada, with a certified service area covering more than 6,800 square miles in Southwest Nevada. VEA presently provides service to over 24,000 services with 2,120 line miles of distribution facilities and 13 substations.  VEA is a participating transmission owner and load serving entity in the California Independent System of Operators Corporation (CAISO).

VEA is the parent company to a host of wholly-owned subsidiaries, including Valley Communication Association (VCA) and SolPower.

VCA (Valley Communications Association) offers commercial and residential optical fiber broadband service, with speeds up to 1 gigabit, to VEA members throughout Nevada.

SolPower is Valley’s full-service solar company specializing in the design, installation, finance, maintenance, and warranty of solar electric systems. Our systems are built to utility standards for our members.

The Installer will work under the general supervision of the Working Foreman Installer and perform as a member of an installation crew. The Installer will have all the required technical expertise for residential and small commercial photovoltaic installations. Qualifications

Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent of training, education and experience that would satisfy this position, with a minimum of two years of experience working on a construction crew and/or photovoltaic installation. Or a combination of education and experience that would meet the minimum requirements of this position.

Language Skills: Ability to listen to, understand, and follow directions. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical and electrical documents. Ability to effectively communicate with others in both verbal and written form. Must have the ability to effectively and patiently communicate to individuals, and be able to present information to others even during stressful conditions.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts common in construction. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to properly measure and mark distances.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal concurrently with abstract and concrete variables.

Other Skills and Abilities: Employee must be well-spoken and professional. Employee must be self-motivated and be trustworthy. Ability to communicate with co-workers, customers and vendors in a professional and courteous manner. Must have working experience using construction equipment, tools (including a variety of hand and power tools), and materials. Must have the ability to analyze data and reports, and conduct research. Must be aware of State and Federal laws (OSHA) related to construction and safety. Must obtain and maintain an OSHA 10 Construction certification and Nevada OSHA PV Installer Certificate.

Must have and maintain a valid Nevada driver’s license and pass a pre-employment drug test as a condition of employment.
