Valley Electric Association, Inc. (VEA) has immediate openings for a Administrative Assistant to work in our headquarters located in Pahrump, Nevada.

Valley Electric Association, Inc., (VEA) is a member-owned electric cooperative based in Pahrump, Nevada, with a certified service area covering more than 6,800 square miles in Nevada and California. VEA presently provides service to over 24,000 services with 2,120 line miles of distribution facilities and 13 substations.  VEA is a participating transmission owner and load serving entity in the California Independent System of Operators Corporation (CAISO).

VEA is the parent company to a host of wholly-owned subsidiaries, including Valley Electric Transmission Association (VETA), Valley Communication Association (VCA), Valley Electric Utility Services (VEUS), and Valley Electric Energy Services (VEES).

VCA (Valley Communications Association), is a wholly-owned subsidiary based in Pahrump, NV, and will offer commercial and residential optical fiber broadband service, with speeds up to 1 gigabit, to VEA members throughout Nevada.

The Administrative Assistant position is responsible for providing the first point of professional contact and administrative services for members, visitors, vendors, solicitors, contractors, and other business partners.  This role will support the company’s Records Retention Program on a day-to-day basis, including oversight of record review, answering questions regarding the Records Retention procedure and applicability of the records retention schedule, by monitoring, tracking and auditing each department’s retention of documents. This position will also be responsible for assisting with special projects, providing administrative support to the staff, and providing back-up to the Executive Administration, Corporate Communications & Marketing departments. Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: Requires High School Diploma or equivalent. Prefer a Legal background with Federal and State law investigation experience and experience with record retention programs.

Interpersonal Skills: Candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work with with all levels of management and employees, outside clients and vendors.

Working Skills and Abilities: Strong personal computer skills (MS Office, Adobe Acrobat Professional), working knowledge of contemporary general office methods, demonstrated skills in researching and evaluating business/financial/economic data and making solid business decisions/recommendations, ability to assume responsibility for a wide variety of projects including planning and coordinating and following through to completion, general accounting/financial analysis skills sufficient to analyze and report on financial data, very effective people skills including public speaking, ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultures, ability to maintain absolute discretion and confidentiality over highly sensitive company and executive information, effective organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple activities with changing priorities simultaneously, strong time management skills.
