Angela Evans was named Interim CEO of Valley Electric in May 2018.
An experienced utility executive, Angela was Chief Operating Officer of VEA before being named Interim CEO. She was hired as Executive Vice President of Operations for VEA in February 2017.
Angela served at the executive level at utilities in California, New Mexico and Texas over the past 18 years. From 2011-16, Angela was Manager of Distribution Services & Maintenance Operations at the Imperial Irrigation District at Indio, Calif. In that capacity, Angela was in charge of energy asset management and ensured the development and implementation of asset strategies to facilitate Smart Grid. She was responsible for leading strategic planning focused on developing the District’s business model as a Utility of the Future and led high profile initiatives, including Community Solar and Advanced Metering Infrastructure.
Angela was honored to be appointed CEO by the Board and she welcomes the opportunity to lead the VEA team that is 100% customer focused. Angela has stressed that the Cooperative’s focus will always be on our member-owners and delivering the most affordable, most reliable services whether that service be electric or broadband.
Placing VEA’s member-owners as the top priority allows the VEA team the freedom to pursue projects that directly improve the quality of lives of residents throughout rural Southwestern Nevada. Angela spearheads VEA’s efforts to bolster system reliability and operational efficiencies using analytics for sound decision making for both energy and broadband. The result is a broad array of optimized functionality, high system reliability and commitment to keep operating costs low for our members. By optimizing operations throughout the cooperative, Angela is helping to pave the way for VEA as a Smart Utility.
From 2000-2010, Angela served in various capacities at utilities in New Mexico and Texas, including serving as the Director of Utility Operations for Albuquerque’s PNM (the largest electricity provider in New Mexico); and serving as the, Director of Service Excellence, Manager of Process Improvement, Senior Business Transformation Process Manager and Business Unit Manager for Texas-New Mexico Power Company in Texas.
A native of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Angela received her bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of New Mexico.
