Valley Electric Association has an unprecedented number of open doors before us. With energy choice, the expansion of solar power, cheaper battery storage, and many other developments, the future is ours to sculpt. The staff at VEA has been working diligently to put us in the best position possible to take advantage of these fantastic opportunities. I'm excited and honored to lead VEA as we move our cooperative onward and upward.
VEA's staff comes to work each day enthusiastic to help members, whether that means signing them up for high-speed internet, resolving a billing issue, or rushing out after a storm to repair downed power lines. In addition to the daily efforts we pour into our communities, we are hard at work on less visible projects. It is vital for VEA's long term sustainability that we invest in initiatives now which might not bear fruit for a generation. The 230kV sale is a great example of the huge potential for long term returns on our investments. This sale allowed us to invest in new infrastructure and projects, hold electricity rates flat for years to come, and send checks directly to members which injected cash flow into our local economies. VEA must dream big in order to prepare for the generations of members to come.
As CEO, I constantly strive to ensure that VEA operates with transparency, friendliness, and excellence. In addition to our district meetings and annual meeting, members are always welcome to call in or stop by our headquarters to share their experiences and suggestions. VEA is owned by our members, so everything we do is designed to benefit our member-owners. If there are any ways to improve the service we provide that we haven't thought of yet, we want to hear about them.
