Michelle Caird

Board Vice President

Michelle Caird

Though relatively new to Southern Nevada, Michelle Caird knows her way around electric cooperatives.  Michelle served 18 years as a board member of Inland Power and Light Company in eastern Washington.  She was the first female president in the cooperative’s 73-year history.

During her nearly two decades of service on the Inland Board, she was involved in hiring two Chief Executive Officers for the cooperative.  She also completed the Credentialed Cooperative Director certification from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.

Michelle served on the Columbia Generating Station’s Participants Review Board as a member and officer.  She also served on the Washington Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s Board and the Northwest Public Power Association’s Board, including two years on the finance committee.

Michelle and her husband, Bill, have owned a home in Pahrump since 2010.  They moved to Nevada from Washington state permanently in 2016.  It has been a good move for the Cairds.  “The people are interesting because there are so many that have come to live here from around the country.  The bringing together of the cultures and viewpoints from different parts of our country gives Pahrump a great deal of depth and makes for lively conversations.”

As one of the founding members of Northwest Mediation Center, Michelle is a certified mediator and mediated various cases including peer-to-peer, small claims court and the Better Business Bureau.  Her career includes working across a wide range of industries, including county government, non-profit, criminal justice, small business and medical.  Michelle believes her varied background assists her with resolving issues and addressing problems.

Michelle currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce and chairs the Pahrump Valley Public Transportation committee.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Illinois University.
