Dave knows that any organization that wants a bright future needs a solid and thoughtful strategic plan. Dave has helped craft VEA’s plans for the future, but he also emphasizes the importance of member education so everyone in the co-op understands where VEA is going and why it’s vital to go there. From his position on the Board of Directors, Dave is helping VEA grow, because by growing, VEA will be able to generate the revenues necessary to keep costs down and provide new and better services for members. Forward thinking like this has already led to dramatic improvements to internet service in Amargosa Valley and the other VEA districts. Consumer energy choice will also bring many opportunities for VEA to thrive by opening up markets outside of the current distribution area. However, Dave is cautious to always evaluate the potential repercussions of any action taken by the Board.
Aside from serving on the VEA Board of Directors, Dave is a member of the Amargosa Senior Project Council, and he serves as Chairman of both the Amargosa Planning Committee and Nye County Water District. And while it’s not a formal position,Dave also goes out of his way to help neighbors with their farming initiatives.
