Dave views his position on the Board of Directors as part of a team working for the benefit of the members. With each matter that comes before the Board, Dave takes the time to understand the facts, objectives, and context before making a decision. Every project must pass Dave’s threshold of low risk and great benefit for the community in order to garner his approval. Dave is working to keep VEA at the forefront of the industry, whether that’s with traditional infrastructure like transmission and distribution lines, or new ventures like broadband. Dave wants other coops to see VEA as the premier electric utility cooperative in the country, an organization so efficient and successful that others will use VEA as a business model.
Retirement has been a busy time for Dave. Since moving to Pahrump in 2006, he’s been impressed with the way people in the community work together, and he gets involved in every way he can. In addition to the Board, Dave is a VEA Ambassador, allowing him to help improve the coop through even more avenues. Dave also sits on the board of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in Pahrump, is a senior member of his church council, and helps with the Pahrump Valley Fall Festival Parade. Dave strives to embody the cooperative principle of community involvement.
