Mike Cottingim

Mike Cottingim has been a resident of Amargosa for 17 years and is excited to serve the residents of District 2 while being on the Board at Valley.  He has served in Nye County in various areas, one of them being the Town Administrator of Amargosa Valley.

Mike has been heavily involved in commercial finance, being in the mortgage industry for over 20 years.  This has given him experience on how to effectively run a business while continuing to provide excellent customer service.  Mike has served in leadership roles, where he was in charge of underwriting teams that were expected to meet production and performance goals, and successfully met and attained goals set for his teams.

Mike believes the challenges facing Valley Electric are “the rising costs and increased demand for services.  We are currently unable to produce our own power and control our future.  Unfortunately, we must react to the markets and not set our own destiny.”  Mike states that one of Valley’s priorities should be to produce our own power and store it.

“Electricity is an important part of our lives.  We need it to do just about everything.  Valley Electric’s mission of providing reliable, efficient, and cost-effective power is vital to our well-being.  We need to strive to maintain that in a very tough environment” Mike said.  He is excited about the opportunity to get to work with the rest of the Board and focus on innovative ways to serve the entire membership
