James Andresen
Director of Engineering and Operations at Valley Electric Association.
Few people at Valley Electric Association have the breadth and depth of experience in the electric industry as James. Before being named to his current position, James held positions of, Journeyman Substation Technician, Substation and Apparatus Supervisor, Substation Superintendent, Assistant Manager of Operations and Manager of Operations. As Director of Engineering and Operations, James is responsible for the day-to-day operations, engineering, compliance and power system operations. James started his career in 1986 working with electrical contractors in the Southwest on various infrastructure projects, including Central Arizona Water Project and electrical system upgrades at Hoover Dam and Edwards AFB. In 1997 he started his career at Valley electric as a substation technician. In 2007 he took a position at Tri-State Generation and Transmission, a transmission cooperative based in Westminster, Colo. At Tri-State he worked as a Journeyman Substation Technician and Power System Operations. In 2012 he returned to Valley as Substation and Apparatus Supervisor and later Manager of Operations. He was born in Albuquerque, N.M. and grew up in Bayfield, Colo. An avid fisherman, James can often be found fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass at Lake Powell in Utah. James and his wife, Lisa, have been married 26 years.
