Amargosa board member cites personal, family health reasons for decision
Dave Hall of Amargosa Valley District 2 (Amargosa Valley), has resigned from the Board, effective immediately, it was announced today. Hall cited family health reasons for his decision.
In a letter dated Monday, Oct. 7, Hall said he was “no longer able to devote the time and concentration needed for this important position” due to family health reasons, which require his attention. “I have found being a member and President of the Board both fulfilling and challenging. I wish the Board success in the many difficult decisions needing to be made.”
Hall served on the VEA Board since 2016. He was most recently re-elected to a three-year term in March 2019. He was elected Board President earlier this year.
“Though I certainly understand Dave’s reasons for stepping down, we will miss his steady hand and deep knowledge of the needs of the members in District 2, who he served with distinction,” said Kathy Keyes, Vice President of the Board of Directors
The process of finding a successor to complete Hall’s unexpired term has already begun, said Keyes. As spelled out in Article IV, Section 7 of the VEA bylaws, members who live within District 2 (Amargosa Valley, Crystal and Ash Meadows) are eligible to be appointed by the remaining Board members. The deadline for applications has not yet been determined nor has the date by which the new Board member is expected to be appointed, said Keyes.
Members of District 2 interested in serving, can submit a letter of application to:
VEA Board Vice President Kathy Keyes
Valley Electric Association
PO Box 237
Pahrump, NV 89041
In addition, a link will be posted on the VEA website this week where District 2 members can submit applications for the open Board seat.
The remaining Board members will screen the applications before applicants are interviewed for the position.
